Some of the the more personal items on this site are the letters that crew members sent home to their loved ones. At the time of the battle some of those aboard Good Hope had received letters from home, however those aboard Monmouth had received none since they left Plymouth, and those letters that were sent were then returned some time after the loss of their loved ones.
