Born June 21, 1889 (although it states 1890 on his naval records),
the son of John James and Elizabeth Carter, of Stanway, Colcester,
Essex.
Having been at sea in the Far East for the majority of their courtship,
he married Edith Ellen Rogers on March 23, 1914, in St. Margaret's
Church, Eastney. Their daughter, Freda, was born on December 21, 1914.
Joined the Royal Navy on December 22,1914, for 12 years. |
